Obstacles

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

What do YOU do when you make a plan, set some goals, and then things don’t quite go as planned?

Do you throw in the towel? Make excuses why your plan won’t work (even though you planned it out carefully.)  Or play the “Eh, I changed my mind” card.  LAME!  You didn’t change your mind, you just perceived the obstacles to be more daunting than they really were during a moment of weakness and self doubt.

Viva Las Vegas

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I have a love/hate relationship with Vegas.  I have worked there on and off for almost a decade.  It has always symbolized cash flow to me. 24 hours a day, I have the opportunity to put on heels and a smile.  So why am I always so glad when I leave it?

I realized today that the last time I worked Labor Day Weekend in Vegas was 2002.  I was living in San Francisco at the time.  The dot.com crash really hurt the clubs and Vegas was more lucrative at the time.  Fast forward six years.  The real estate crash has really hurt the Phoenix clubs and Vegas is more lucrative at this time.

Avalon to Vegas

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

I solidified my trip!  I will be working at Treasures August 26-31st.  It also co-incides with the Gentlemen’s Club Expo at Mandalay Bay, so you may see me milling around there during the daytime.  Be sure to check out the Christie’s Cabaret Booth!

I had a long day.  Taught Spin class, then did 40 minutes of cardio.  Watched the market plunge and smiled as my puts increased in value.  Went back to the gym for an hour of weights with Jack LaLaine and did another 30 minutes of cardio.  Total daily workout: 3 hours.

Margarita Luminosa

My friend Margarita flew in from NYC today. We are sitting at the fingerprint bureau waiting for her sheriffs card. It is a daunting task for a newbie entertainer to get the club referral (we had to go to three clubs before the Spearmint Rhino of all places gave her one) Then navigate through the monsoon to the fingerprint bureau on the outskirts of town. Then wait…

I remember when my friend Robin did the same thing with me years ago when I was a newbie.

Sunday Night in Vegas

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I can’t recall the last time I worked a Sunday Night in Vegas.  Probably 2002, when I would fly in on Saturday Night, work OG with Jenny, then fly home Tuesday morning at 7am

.  The airport baggage claim shuttle was packed with arrivals. The line at Dollar Rental Car was about an hour deep (phew! glad I’m a member and breezed straight to the lot!)

I tested my Leisure Travel Consultant credentials.  Backed with my IATA letter for confirmation, I was upgraded on my rental car.  Although, I’ve been upgraded 2 of the last 3 trips, so I wonder if I can attribute that to the perks of being an LTC or the perks of my boobs….

Day…uh…Four

Friday, April 4th, 2008

11am: It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed, I wake up by 11 everyday.  It’s great for when I’m living my normal life, not so much here.

1pm: I watch my paper losses increase as OIH climbs higher on lower volume.  I haven’t traded much this week.  Just poised and waiting for a big down day….

2pm: Met up with Susan Wayward and Holiday at the pool.  There is strength in numbers, the hairy pasty white guys pretty much left us alone.  Susan travels a lot and has great info on clubs in the middle of nowhere.  I think that may the ticket for 2008: go to the corn, soybean, and wheat farmers in the middle of nowhere.

VegasMoney Day 3

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

11am Wake up.  Pack.  Check out.  I have a few hours to kill before I can check into my new casino/hotel and it is a gorgeous sunny day.  I put the top down on the convertible and drive out Sahara Blvd.

12pm: Work out at a really nice super-sized location of my gym.  Multi level.  Very swanky…or was it just stripper hour?  I swear every person working out at that gym must take their clothes off for a living.  Even the midget.  Not kidding…she was hot…in a miniature sorta way….

VegasMoney Day 2

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Since my am and pm are reversed Vegas Style… the meat of my post won’t appear til the morning of the next day.

11am: wake up.  Use the coffee maker in the room to heat water to make oatmeal.  Add chocolate protein powder to concoct my favorite breakfast.  Yesterday my meals also consisted soley of protein bars and shakes.  Maybe I should add “Lose that excess 5lbs of winter weight” to my list of things to do in Vegas this week.  I don’t really like dining alone, so I have a week’s supply of Chocolate Mint Muscle Milk Light shakes, oatmeal, various bars, and of course peanut butter!

VegasMoney Day 1

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I will chronicle my week in Vegas similar to my Diary of a Superbowl Stripper Series. The last time I drove and worked an entire week in Vegas was Comdex 2002. I was six years younger then.

4:40am Wilson wakes me up to go outside. Can’t fall back asleep. Lay in bed going over everything I forgot to pack/do/email yesterday.

6am: get up, shower, eat, check stops on my puts

6:30am: get stopped out of LEH, COF, JPM with much less of a profit than I had yesterday. Good thing I doubled up on OIH and XLE puts.

Not for 1/3 of a Gallon of Gas!

One thing stood out to me this week, both in Vegas and at Christie’s last night.  Some PLs (that’s internet slang for Pathetic Loser) sitting at the tip rail actually think they can cop a cheap feel if they tip a buck.  Wednesday night at Treasures there was a group of 5 Asian men sitting at Center Stage.  Each had a stack of about 20 singles in front of them.  They would wave one folded up dollar bill in the air to entice the dancer over to them, but then pull it back if she didn’t let them place it down the front of her gstring.
