So when she texted me that her flight got in at 9pm from the upper Midwest where she had a booking last week, I immediately told her to high tale it to Treasures to help me entertain The Whale’s group.  So she literally got off the plane, Stripperfied herself, clocked in by 11:30, and was just in time!  The group really ended up only being two guys….and it was hilarious how the vultures were swarming around them when Jacko escorted them from the front door straight to VIP.

This is a prime example of how Social Capital can make or break your night.  I wasn’t sure how many people The Whale was bringing to Treasures.  He didn’t know either until the business dinner was finished.  Nevertheless, Jacko and I were preparing the list before his arrival: me, Jessica Rabbit, Mackenzie, and then Jacko named a few girls I didn’t know….but obviously enough social capital to make his list.  It was a bit disappointing to the list of girls when “the party” turned out to only be two guys, each of whom were already “taken” by Jessica Rabbit and I.

At our SuperStripper Luncheon Summit this afternoon, we were discussing social capital.  I firmly believe that in Vegas you have to play defense in this economy.  Whenever I sell a 3 for $100 I tip the host $10-$20, even though he didn’t do anything.  I admit that it is frustrating to tip out when I find the guy, I close the sale, and I collect my own money….but the VIP host remembers who tips well.  It reaches even further than hoping to get on “their list” of girls that they introduce to high dollar clients.  As I mentioned in February: they can, will, and do send non-list girls on wild goose chases.

And to commemorate our fun, profitable SuperStripper Evening:

The drive to Vegas was hot and sunny. I learned a long time ago that long road trips with the convertible top down REALLY tires me out. The drive took 6 hours this time due to the tourist traffic across Hoover Dam. I hope that bridge is completed soon. Took a quick nap and clocked in at Treasures at 7:30 pm. I paid the offstage fee since I walked in the door with a 5 hour deal already closed.

The Whale was waiting.

I got some funny looks from the girls in the locker room as I put on my long cherry red Jessica Rabbit gown. I love that tight stretchy red dress with thigh high slits up the side….I haven’t worn it since I left Christie’s. Despite it’s opulent decor, Treasures is not a gown club…and I would have been very overdressed if I was just working the floor.

I found him by center stage. “You know what…I’ve never seen you dance onstage.” he said to me.

“Oh I suck, you’re not missing much.” I responded.

Makenzie egged me on too, “Yeah…you’re really not, you just walk back and forth.”

We chatted with Makenzie on the main floor for a bit and invited her to eat dinner with us at the Treasures Steakhouse. I was starving, since two Muscle Milk Lite shakes and a Zone bar was all I had eaten. That first glass of white zinfandel went right to my head! The Surf and Turf was excellent, I love lobster and filet!! I was very impressed with the food and the service in The Steakhouse. The Whale was too, and is going to bring his clients there in May instead of Capital Grille. It was a very mellow and relaxed evening, unlike the typical shift in Vegas. We went straight from the steakhouse to the balcony next to the main stage.

He had early meetings, and cut out around 1. The club was filling up with March Madness Fans. I only brought my long Jessica Rabbit gown, and had already made double my average nightly Vegas goal so I decided to call it a night and cash out.

“Wow you had a good night!” the girl in front of me in line at the cage said as she eyed my stack of $100 Treasure Bills “I’m just getting here…is it that good tonite?”

“No, I just had a regular customer who I’ve known for about a year. He tells me when he’s coming and we hang out” I responded.

“Yeah, until you won’t sleep with him….I can never keep someone longer than twice.” she huffed.

“Well, they are few and far between…but some guys really just want genuine attention and a few hours of entertainment where they don’t have to think about the real world” I responded.

I got in my car at 1 am. Daisy Delfina texted me that she was just heading into work at Sapphires. I wished her luck, went back to my room and caught up on some much needed sleep.

It’s FREEZING cold here today. Guess I missed my chance to sit at the pool.

More women going from jobless to topless is the latest mainstream press article about dancing

One of the reasons that I stress every SuperStripper should pick one home club and stick with it, is to avoid the stress of wondering “Where should I work tonight?” or “I hope I don’t pick the wrong club tonight!”

About 5 years ago I worked at both Skin in Scottdale and Christie’s in Phoenix. Every night, as I was driving up the 101, I would have to make a choice….do I stay on the 101 and go
to Skin…or do I get on the 202 and go to Christie’s? It took a near accident one night as I changed lanes last minute to convince me that I needed to just pick one club, build up my social capital, and cultivate a base clientele.

For the first time in 5 years, I had these same feelings this past week. My two co-workers ROCKED the house at
Babe’s this week. It left me thinking….gosh, I should have just stayed home. I picked the “wrong” club this week.

Oh well, I can’t change the past. But I can learn from it. Here is what I learned this week:

I had a solid, average week earnings-wise in Vegas, which I can attribute that to two things:
1. I didn’t pull my usual 12 hour shifts. I only worked the 5 hour minimum and was out the door by 3am.
2. My social capital with the VIP hosts at Treasures made up the difference. They introduced me to the proper tables.

To anyone else who is wondering if Vegas is better than Dallas, Denver, Miami, NYC, or Chicago, my response is this:
Ask yourself these two questions:
1. Do you have an established VIP customer lined up already?
2. Do you have an established relationship with the VIP hosts to introduce you to VIP customers that you don’t know?

In the future, I’m only taking a business trip to Vegas when I can answer Yes to both of these questions. (fun trips are excluded because it’s the only time I get to see my SuperStripperFriends!)

Is not as packed as World of Concrete 2008. I think that is par for the course for many of the conventions this year. Apparently Obama’s infrastructure overhaul has created lots of government initiatives and incentives that the concrete companies are scrambling over. Hopefully, they will be sealing deals in the VIP room the next few nights.

I overcame my mental obstacle yesterday. Often, my inspirational posts are an effort to re-program my own thinking. I was frustrated because The Whale cancelled on me last minute, and I was expecting an easy 10 hours in VIP over a few nights. I know, boo-hoo, poor SuperStripper…cry your eyes out for me. I honestly wanted to just turn around and go home with a bunch of excuses on why it wasn’t worth it to stay.

But I didn’t. I picked up my copy of Success is Not an Accident and read the passage I wrote yesterday: Excuses are your attempt to rationalize your lack of results.

So I went into work intent on making lemonade from the lemons life had dealt me. I closed the first person I talked to. I closed VIP with the second person I talked to. The rest of the night wasn’t easy, but I emerged the victor.

There is never enough room for both buts and brilliance. You must make the choice. Do you want your “Yeah, but…” or do you want your goal?

The slogan of The Para-lypmpics says it all. “What’s your excuse?”

If there is anything in your life that is not the way you want it to be, you and only you are responsible for changing it. It is up to YOU to create the solutions to your life, whether they are big or small. Each time you give an excuse, you dimish your respect, dignity, and integrity…and re-inforce the habit of making excuses in the future.

Effectively, making excuses is just an attempt to rationalize your lack of results.

The moment you choose to want your goal more than you want your excuse, you will begin to succeed. Refuse to appoint yourself the victim. Victims don’t take action because they are too busy dwelling on how unfair life is.

I’m writing this to pump myself up. I’m facing a slight obstacle. But I’m not going to make an excuse!

SEMA

I am packing for the SEMA Convention in Vegas.  This is one of the few “biggies”that I make sure to attend every year. I select which conventions to work by the number of attendees and the demographic of the average attendee.  SEMA is the Automotive Aftermarket Parts Convention.  It draws 160,000 attendees.  The average attendee is male, likes cars, and usually likes girls.  It’s a great combination.  Similar to World of Concrete…there just aren’t enough girls to go around…so when the average attendee goes to a regular bar, it ends up being a bunch of guys sitting around looking at each other.

I mailed in my ballot three weeks ago.  I don’t think it’s going to help McCain too much.  When planning this trip I was a little weary of being alone in Las Vegas if/when the Obama riots break out.  Hopefully, I can find at least one Republican Automotive Aftermarket Parts guy (out of 160k) who needs to drown his sorrows in my boobs.

I will be at Treasures in Las Vegas Tuesday and Wednesday Nights from 9pm until whenever I stop making money and/or fall over from exhaustion.

Overall, I had a GREAT week in Vegas.  I had to adjust my attitude after The Whale left.  It’s tough going from being paid very well to be sweet and charming… to negotiating with sleazy customers who say things like “Cmon…two for twenty….and can I touch your p-ssy?”   Bleh!

So after my 5 hour minimum shift was complete, I met up with fellow Stripperwebbers DangerousDiva, Bridgette, and LuckyOne at Drai’s.  We were a bit early, it was pretty dead at 3 am.  By 4 am the dancefloor was packed.  In walked the bachelor party I had danced for earlier that night at Treasures.  Maybe they won’t recognize me I hoped.  No such luck. We danced til 5:30am, then I went back to my room and slept hard!

Cinderella

Now I know how Cinderella felt when her fancy coach turned back into a pumpkin.  The last two nights were very easy money.  Bill Pullman, aka The Whale was trying to close another deal by entertaining clients in Vegas.  He returned home today and I have to go back to working the floor at Treasures tonight.   My Vegas girlfriends and I are planning to hit Drai’s after work and then I’m going home tomorrow.

To answer 6footBlondie’s question, yes I will be here for the SEMA Convention November 4-6th.  Mike, I may stay longer, but it depends how good the early part of the week is going.

I made a mint in the market this week. I bought puts on BIDU and GOOG on Wednesday.  Nevertheless, I’m glad I can step away from the computer and do some other things now.
