Success is NOT a Accident

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I was waiting for my prescription at Walgreens yesterday, and they conveniently relocated the book section to the pharmacy area. So I browsed the selections, and this book caught my eye:
51aLHlrV9yL. SL210 Success is NOT a Accident

So I sat down, checked out the table of contents and was intrigued by this passage:

Another key in striving for success is to get over expecting life to be fair. A level playing field is a self-indulgent and unproductive fantasy. In this world, it will never happen, nor should it: Insisting on a level playing field disrupts your attention and distracts you from your ultimate objective.

Day 3 of 9

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I’m in the first trimester of my longest work stint yet. Thus my posts have not been very original.

I was expecting the same fabulous forty and over crowd this week for FBR. That hasn’t been the case, and thus my first two nights were not stellar. Keep in mind, they were profitable which is essential for keeping a business going considering the plethora of businesses like the nations 2nd largest electronics retailer Circuit City which could not turn a profit.

The attitude we project at work is essential to success. Even if you think you are projecting a positive attitude, it doesn’t matter if the customer doesn’t interpret it that way.

Rain

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Only in Arizona does a spring shower mean “Stay at home!” And yes, it’s springtime here: the roses in my front yard are in full bloom and over six feet tall!

Babe’s Cabaret was slow. Of course, I was not on the top of my game either. The antihistamines made my head dizzy, and I was constantly straining my voice just to maintain normal conversation. I met some really nice folks from Portland early in the night though. The slight drizzle didn’t deter them from driving into Scottsdale from the golf resort.

Barrett Jackson/NFC Championship Game Day 6

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Someone asked me how Panda got his blog name. He picked it. In his own words “Because everyone thinks pandas are so cute and so sweet….but get into the cage with ‘em and….they’re still A BEAR!”

Babes Cabaret was a sea of Red Cardinals Jerseys at 7pm on Sunday Night. After all these years, there is still just something weird about being in a strip club on Sunday night! Oh well, they were drunk and spending their bet money.

Day FIVE Rocked!

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Good things come to those who work their a$$ off….

Babe’s was steady all night long with Iggles Fans. I even resurrected my accent to trigger their Friendship Hot Button. I never had a very thick Philly accent, but at times water comes out “wood-er” and the plural of you is “yous” or “yous guys.”

Met a bunch of guys who drove down from Vegas to watch the Iggles play. Also ran into a guy who was the bouncer at Mr. J’s in Orange County. He was “too cool” to buy a dance. C’mon…just because you worked in the industry at some point doesn’t mean you’re too cool to purchase the service that once supported your own livelihood.

Barrett Jackson Day (sigh) Three!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I don’t normally work on Thursdays. I need a day of recovery to hit the Fri/Sat crowd with 110% effort. But since Barrett-Jackson is in town, and it’s easy money, I forced myself to go in. Decided to break in a new pair of shoes. It was time: every three months I put the old pair up for auction on ebanned.com and use the profits to buy a new pair of stripper shoes.

8pm: clock in. 3 customers. The lone Asian man sitting stage side tips me a dollar. He is in town from Hong Kong on business. His English is good, but the conversation is rather elementary. He buys two dances. No more worms for the early bird today.

Eagles/Cards

Who do I cheer for? The town I grew up in, or the town I live in?

I resurrected my Philly accent on Sunday during the “Iggles” game. I caught the good part of it during lunch break from Acceleration Training. I swear they won because I broke my diet and ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich. Haven’t had one in over a year. It was awesome. Even though someone from Philly never calls it a “philly steak” its just a “cheesesteak”

The Super Bowl of Success
by Adam Sternberg

When searching for an article topic to write about in this issue, I was torn between two different ideas. After I had a wonderful conversation this evening from one of our 2003 seminar alumni, the choice was quite clear as to which one I was going to go with. It was actually my first choice anyway and I intentionally wanted to send it the day after Super Bowl Sunday to drive the point home a little more so forgive us on the slight delay of the delivery of this newsletter.

Day FIVE of The Superbowl Stripper-Sunday Night

Monday, February 4th, 2008

It’s actually Day Six.  I have never worked 6 nights in a row.  I didn’t write Tuesday night up as a Superbowl Stripper Diary.  I should have because that was the night the LapDance Police handed out tickets.

9pm:  I don my all time favorite costume: The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader get up made famous by BritneyIreland at Mr. J’s in Santa Ana, CA.  I wore that outfit all the time back then.  These days I take it out of the closet for Halloween and Superbowl Sunday. I stand at the top of the mainstage balcony, and it looks like this:

Yeah, no customers yet.

Day Three of a Superbowl Stripper-Friday Night

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

7:03pm Crap, I forgot to get gas this afternoon when I saw I was on empty!  Stop at Circle K in my stripper uniform (hot pink velour tracksuit, thick smoky eyeliner, lip plumping gloss, rhinestone jewelry, teased blonde hair in soft updo)  $38 to fill the tank for the week.  I’m soooo glad I traded in the Range Rover for my current Volvo…er “Vulva” as Vinnie affectionatly calls it.

“Staked?  What’s that mean?”  inquires the pudgy guy fulling up his shiny Hummer next to me.  He’s wrinkling his brow, cocking his head to the side mouthing Staked, Sta-ked, over and over again trying to figure out my license plate.
