And have missed a few SuperStripper inspiring posts this week.

In all honesty, I have been enjoying my time off, working on other projects, and relying on my other streams of income.

I’m not saying this to try to impress you, but rather to impress upon you that anyone can do what I am doing. Its not easy, or instantaneous, but it is one method to walk away from this industry The Victor.

The strip clubs are slow this time of year. So you have two choices: go in and do your best or stay home and pout. By applying the proper strategies taught at Dancerwealth.com, you will walk out with more money than you went in with. I had a really slow last week, but I was overall profitable, which is what matters most.

If you are a SubsistenceStripper or a JobStripper with the monthly bills still unpaid AND Christmas presents left to buy…think about how nice it would be if you didn’t have to pull your hair out each month to make ends meet.

It’s never too late to start learning how to create other streams of income to offset these slow times.

It was only within the past year that I came to grips with what I do. For the past eight years I have hidden my profession from my family. I tell people this and they are dumbfounded…”You mean your mother doesn’t know WHAT you do for a living?” Uh, nope.

I find it fascinating that our society is so focused on “what we do” rather than “who we are.” Think about it, it’s one of those ice-breaking questions that always arises at cocktail parties (or happy hour.) As if our profession shows any indication of our personality! If that were true, then we’d never break these classic stereotypes: ALL accountants would be boring, ALL lawyers would be distrustful, ALL salesmen would be sneaky, ALL teachers would be dorky, and ALL strippers would be coke addicts.

So, since most people are small minded, quick to judge, are just making conversation and don’t really care “what I do” I usually say “I work in the fitness industry.” It’s not a lie. I do teach yoga, pilates, Spinning, and bodysculpting classes. I do that 7 whole hours each week. I love working at the gym. It is the only J-O-B I have managed to keep since 1996.

It’s been a good cover thus far. I mean, can you imagine the instantaneous negative judgement that would be passed on me if I casually responded, “Oh…I’m a stripper at Christie’s on 32nd St.” to every person who casually asks, “So what do you do?”

Now my Mom is not dumb. She has never asked how we afford the things that we have….but I think she might have a nagging suspicion how my husband and I can afford a beautiful home, nice vacations, muscle cars, SUV, and my brand new Volvo C70 convertible….yet neither of us have J-O-B-S.

That’s right, my husband and I do not have jobs. Hubby did work as a district manager for a large corporation up til about a 16 months ago. He turned the Phoenix office around and posted record sales year after year. He worked 10-14 hour days in exchange for a base plus commission, a company car (a Chevy Malibu!) free gas, insurance and a 401K. He was such a good slave that they paid for his Dale Carnegie Sales Training course which he took top honors in as well. Then, a funny thing happened. After four years of steadily increasing sales and improving the bottom line for the company….they decided to lower his base salary and raise the margin requirement to get his commission.

Corporations are smart. They know that their wage slaves need to maintain their current standard of living. They also know that they can’t roll back salary without the risk of losing a valuable slave. So in order to get more work out of their slaves they manipulate their commissionable pay scale. That didn’t fly with us. So we gave them back their Chevy Malibu, rolled the 401K into a self directed IRA and began trading the options market.

Now, just because we do not punch in forty (or more) hours a week for a boss, in exchange for a paycheck so that we can have food and shelter…doesn’t mean that we don’t work. I work at the strip club 4 nights a week. I work at the gym 7 hours a week. I work at my trading corporation during market hours M-F (my office is conveniently located in my den.) My husband also works at the trading corporation M-F during market hours (his office is on the kitchen table.) He is also the official neighborhood arborist. This entails monthly lectures at our HOA clubhouse. You can also hire him on an individual basis to evaluate and properly treat your dying tree. Part of our HOA agreement is that each house will maintain two trees in the front yard, so there is plenty of business! He also buys, restores, and sells old muscle cars on Ebay. We have a 68 Oldsmobile Tornado in our garage that is almost ready. The Fiat Spider needs a bit more work.

We don’t mind working, we just refuse to be wage slaves and have taken the responsibility to plan for our financial future.

We live in a culture that teaches us to get good grades, go to college, get a degree, so you can get hired by a good company that provides health insurance and a pension. That company pays us a wage that we budget our lives around until we retire and then hopefully our pension and Social Security will cover our expenses until we die. Nice idea, it worked for my grandparents. It has worked so far for my mom. She has a sweet pension from the Pennsylvania Teacher’s Union, well deserved after 36 YEARS of wage slavery.

It’s not going to work for me though. I have no faith in Social Security. I don’t believe it is the responsibilty of the corporation you work for, or the responsibility of the government to “take care of you” once you retire. The entitlement mentality really pisses me off. Yes, I feel poorly for the United Airline Pilots who after 40 years of service got their pension yanked because that was something that was promised to them. There are no more promises these days. Pensions are defined contribution plans, not defined benefit plans. If you don’t participate you don’t get anything at the end.

Its no wonder that our economy is based on consuming. The markets rocked up because the Fed lowered the fund rate to attempt to help out the people who cashed out too much equity in their homes. No wonder, for many of those people, their home appreciated more than their wages would pay them in 5 years! I bought my house in Nov 2003 for $170K. In May 2006 I had it appraised for $400K. So I made $230K in 30 months. If I were a teacher, it would have taken me six and a half years to make Two hundred thirty thousand dollars!

Luckily, I was prudent enough to not cash out all my equity. I just took out enough to cover my Investools tuition, pay off some other small loans, establish a 6 months emergency fund in case I get hit by a car and Christie’s won’t let me dance in a full body cast and crutches…..(DJ Billy could play Dr. Feelgood and I could wear my nurse costume)….

Unfortunately many of my neighbors are not that lucky. They are wage slaves who cashed out too much equity and are now upside-down on their mortgage. They are also upside down on their 5 year Escalade loan. So now many of them are looking for part time J-O-B-S to make ends meet. Honorable indeed. But there just aren’t enough hours in the week to get ahead by working for a wage.
