What separates the SuperStripper from her peers? What kind of personality does she have? How intelligent is she? What lifestyle does she live, and what special talents was she born with that separates her from the rest of the girls in the locker room struggling to make rent? We assume that it is these personal qualities that explain how she rose to the top.

I’m reading a great book called Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. In the book he argues that successful people aren’t self made. Successful people don’t rise from nothing and SuperStrippers don’t possess magical powers. Rather the culture we belong to and the legacies passed down from our families shape the patterns of our achievement in ways we cannot begin to imagine. Its not enough to ask what a SuperStripper is LIKE, it’s only by asking what environment she is from and continues to immerse herself in that we can begin to unravel who walks out with a wallet of cash and who is crying in the locker room.

At SuperStripper Bootcamp we have a saying: you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. So right now think of the five people you hang around the most….got em? Now think about this: you are the average intelligence, average income, average weight, average emotional maturity, average everything of those five people.

When you do this exercise you may realize that you need better friends. As much as you love your family (and you can’t get rid of ‘em) your boyfriend, your friends from high school, and the girls you commiserate with in the locker room…could they possibly be holding you back?

You cannot change where you came FROM in the past but you can change the environment you surround yourself with from this point going forward. If you surround yourself with successful people, you will undoubtedly experience more success! Such a simple concept…but how do you do that in the strip club? You don’t want everyone to know your secret sauce for making money right???

Creating a supportive environment that fosters success is the backbone of SuperStripper Bootcamp and our other live events. Online forums are a great place to start…but nothing replaces human contact. We learn best from each other.

Check out www.superstripperbootcamp.com and improve your average TODAY!!

Are you internally or externally motivated? Do you feel like things happen to you or that you make things happen for yourself? How do you deal with obstacles: do you push harder to navigate around them towards your goal or do you step back and hope things work out somehow?

Step back and assess your life. Think back five years ago. Do you have the things you dreamed and wanted five years ago? If not, why? Was it for a lack of clearly determined goals? If you did set goals, did you achieve them? If you set a goal, and did not achieve it, why? Can you take responsibility for being lackadaisical while navigating those obstacles that inevitably pop up?

I’ve been having a tough week navigating setbacks and obstacles. I know that it is a part of life and there is no straight clear-cut path towards my lofty goal. Five years ago I did not have the self-direction to take responsibility to navigate my obstacles. I relied on the “well if it’s meant to be….it will all eventually work out” philosophy. Today I work twice as hard to make the things I want to happen.

So, if you are externally motivated, and hoping for some sign from above that it’s time for a change, it’s Pluto Retrograde time:

Pluto, the planet of transformation, takes a whopping 248 years to complete a single cycle of rotation around the Sun. On average, it spends 21 years in each sign and 5 months of each year in retrograde.

Pluto turns retrograde in Capricorn on April 4, signaling in a time of destruction and rebuilding, rejuvenation and regeneration. It is a time for fresh starts and dead ends. The things that we hang onto the tightest can suddenly be taken away. We may be forced to reevaluate the things we cherish most.

During a Pluto retrograde period, we will feel pressured to eliminate and release the old, outworn, outdated and obsolete in our lives. We will be urged to let go of attitudes, thinking or communication patterns, security drives, and rigid emotions that no longer serve us. This is an excellent time to undergo an internal form of house cleaning, and look into ourselves to determine exactly what we do and do not need.

Pluto retrograde imparts an intense power for investigation, so we should use this time to assess what reoccurring patterns in our lives make us feel out of control, where and why do we continually give our power away, and under what circumstances do we react so defensively that we elicit attacks from others. Pluto retrograde marks a time wherein we should seek to gain greater control over our lives.

Values are those things that are most important to you. They include people, things, virtues, concepts, beliefs and feelings. Together they constitute your individual philosophy of life. Goals, on the other hand, are how you fulfil the values that are important to you. What was interesting to me, was that my values are basically the same….but my goals have changed. This is logical, because at the time I only set one year goals…and that was five years ago. Nevertheless, I was able to follow through with the necessary action because I had defined my values and goals.

So what are your values:
security, freedom, happiness, peace of mind, fun, excitement, power, family, marriage, friends, making a difference, spirituality, independence, growth, creativity, adventure, fulfillment, confidence, balance, love, health, loyalty, education, tradition, authenticity, strength of purpose, honesty, generosity, kindness, beauty, community, the environment, fairness, or intelligence

Only you know what matters deeply to you. Write down the five core values that matter the most to you. Don’t overthink it. Your gut reaction is right. Just make sure to write them down! Our society assigns a higher value to written contracts than oral agreements. So make your values a written contract with yourself!!!

What are your goals?
Do you have your 3, 10, 20 and 30 year goals written down? If not, then this is something you might want to think about doing sometime. If you need coaching, DancerVictory will be released later this year.

What are your current actions?
It never ceases to amaze me that people will change their values quicker than they will change their actions. Not on purpose, but just because they are just drifting through life without clearly defined values and goals. “We fail to find the time to proactively define our values and goals…..yet squander even more time dealing reactively with the inevitable mess created by our own neglect.”

Here is what I found for myself:
In 2004 my top five values were
1. Marriage
2. Financial Security
3. Health
4. Careers
5.Fun.

I completed this activity in early January. My corresponding goals for each value were: 1. get married on June 26 2. Save $200/month starting Feb 1 3. Hire a personal trainer by Feb 1 4. Increase dancing profit 10% by Dec 31 5. Go on a 2 week honeymoon in July. I wrote them all down…and I did them all by the planned date.

When I revisited this work book in 2006 My top values
were
1. Family
2. Financial Security
3. Health
4. Confidence
5. Fullfillment

My corresponding goals were 1. Go on a family vacation in June 2. Devote 5 hours a week to Investools PhD program, completion date spring 2008 3. Practice Bikram Yoga 3 times a week 4. Finish Think and Grow Rich and complete Mastermind Checklist by March 31 5. Make 6 figures by Dec 31. Once again, because my goals were aligned with the values that were important to me…it was easy to accomplish them!

Take a good look at what is really important to you. Then be brutally honest with yourself: Are you living your life according to your values? Are your actions consistent with your values? Are the people you spend most of your time with propelling you towards, or distracting you away from what is most important to you? Only you can make the necessary changes.

“Awww man! I missed the first two weeks of Spring Training because I was in Tent City for a DUI.” a co-worker of mine lamented one evening last week…”at least when I was in federal prison there were showers with a curtain and three square meals!”

I thought that was almost as good as the quote last year when I overheard a stoned dancer mumbling as she fiddled with her locker combination, “Lockers, lockers, I hate f-in lockers….I was locked up in one for three years ya know…”

I first wrote about Seeking out Your Environment last May. Old colloquialisms like, “Birds of a feather, flock together” come to mind. Don’t misconstrue that I think all strippers are ex-cons. I simply give this advice to all impressionable newbie strippers: Be careful who you spend your time with, for you will inevitably start to think and act just like them.

Whenever I am in an environment that is NOT going to help me grow I do one of two things: seek a different one, or if that is not possible I try to positively influence someone who is also in that environment. In the case of the strip club, I can’t leave it: but I always try to motivate a JobStripper or SupplementalStripper who wants more for herself.

I can only do so much during the random slow periods of the typical strip club shift. The environment she chooses to put herself in during her free and investible time can easily undo the 10-20 minute motivational guidance I can offer.

When I was a teacher we said the same thing about troubled students: we only have them 6 hours a day for one year….their home environment is much more of an influence than we can ever be.

Life is a ticking clock. There are no time-outs. What you do on Friday night counts, just as much as what you do on Sunday morning or Thursday afternoon. Your choices reveal who you really are. You are where you are today because of the choices you made in the past. You’ve made decisions about what to learn and what not to learn. You’ve made decisions to believe some things and not others. You’ve made decisions about who you spend your time with, who you date, who you marry/have married, and whether or not you will have children.

Turn the clock back to April 2006 and consider for a moment all the decisions you’ve made in the last three years. Imagine making a different choice in some key area. How might your life be different today with just a handful of different choices?

Make today a turning point. Whether it is your career, fitness, or relationship status; you can start to make wiser decisions by making different choices today. If you do, you will find yourself in a much better place than you are right now.

1. As humans, we make life choices that harmonize with our beliefs. We unconsciously choose to put ourselves in situations and associate with people that fit our preconceptions. We avoid people and situations that might weaken or challenge what we believe to be true.

2. We practice selective attention or inattention depending on the circumstance. Our minds tune into phenomena that confirm our beliefs while ignoring, avoiding, deleting, or violently reacting to anything that could weaken that belief. We selectively remember events that support what we want to believe is true and selectively forget events that show us otherwise.

3. We automatically distort, mold, or exaggerate evidence to reasonable fit our beliefs.

4. As a last ditch effort, we may also rationalize contradictory evidence to uphold a belief. Often this involves misinterpreting someone’s motives, and/or convincing yourself of a motive that really isn’t there.

I’m totally digging all this psychological mumbo-jumbo as I create the all new DancerWise program.

1. I gave a dance to a very nice older lady last night. “That’s it?” she asked when I finished my lame airdance. “Uh…yep twenty please.” Apparently she was a Bible-Humper, and held the belief that strip clubs were dens of sin and prostitution. Kudos to her for challenging her belief. It’s a good thing she picked Babe’s in Scottsdale and not Mitchell Brother’s in San Francisco to confirm/deny her preconcieved belief.

2. My good friend just got her heart ripped out by some douchebag. Although they hadn’t been dating long, she only paid attention to the good things about him, and ignored the situations where his true intentions began to show.

3. Strip clubs are a fantasy land. Most patrons can distinguish between the reality of paying $20 for a few minutes of topless entertainment. Others will exaggerate an entertainers weekly follow up sales call into something else.

4. Refer back to number 2

Intelligence, education, hard work, and good connections are useful; but without goals, you tend to drift like a rudderless ship from project to project, never harnessing your full potential.

The primary benefit of setting goals is that you begin to take control of your life. The overwhelming majority of Americans are so caught up in the urgent activities of daily living. They are running hard, but getting nowhere because they have confused activity with accomplishment.

Without clearly written, precise goals you will invariably drift in whatever direction the wind happens to be blowing. Instead of being assertive and proactive with your life, you’ll simply react to the world around you and become the self-induced victim of circumstance.

Winners, on the other hand can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who they will be sharing their adventure with them.

I got a genuine compliment from my first customer of the evening tonight, “You’re the coolest chick I’ve come across in the past five years….and I’m not just saying that because you’re straddling me half naked.”

Having a positive self-image is imperative to finding success in this industry. Your self-image is the subconscious mechanism responsible for guiding your behavior. We always act consistently with the image we have of ourselves. If you see yourself as a second or third tier dancer who most guys don’t want a dance from…then by golly you aren’t going to sell many dances.

I bring this up because there were several of us having a conversation in the locker room. It was slow early in the evening, so another resident Babe’s Cabaret SuperStripper and I were stressing that even if you only get 5 dances an hour, we could still make $400 from 10-close. 5 dances an hour is a very realistic goal for any SuperStripper with a positive self-image and can-do attitude. Immediately we heard the typical “Well maybe for you…you’re blonde and have fake boobs…guys don’t like me as much.”

To hear that statement out loud broke my heart. Here is an absolutely stunning woman verbally programming a negative self image into her subconscious mind. I reached out and shook her and said “Stop saying that! Instead say I am beautiful and men want dances from me!”

Like fertile soil, your subconsious mind will accomodate whatever seeds you plant. Thus, the images you consciously and repeatedly focus on become absorbed into your subconscious mind. If you focus on the positives: I am beautiful and men want dances from me….you WILL sell more dances.

Thats my SuperStripper Secret. I’m really not that cool of a chick. I’m pretty dorky actually, and the first four years of my dancing career I was the second and third tier stripper. But once I started thinking like a SuperStripper, I became one.
