The Dash

I went to a Leadership Conference this past weekend.  I have written about how important I think self development is for every human being.

The speaker that moved me the most stood up and started talking about The Dash

I’m sure you are familiar with headstones that are on a grave.  I’m not being morbid here, just bear with me. You how on the headstone they always write Your Name

The Year you were born

DASH

The Year you died.

What about all the years in between?  Isn’t the DASH the most important part of your life?

Very few women get into stripping because they WANT to be a stripper.  There is always a REASON WHY.  Whether it is to pay for school, or to feed their family, or just to “get ahead” (whatever that means to her)

For many years I did it to “get ahead.”  As I have matured I realized that having a bank account, retirement account, and financial security doesn’t make me feel fulfilled.  It’s not the money that we really want…its the experiences we can create with that money.  For example, I have a friend who really wants a boat.  She doesn’t want “a boat” she wants the experiences she can have taking that boat out on the weekends with her friends and family.

I came to many of these revelations while writing DancerVictory. It is the third, but truly the most important course in Strip and Grow Rich.  To truly get to the top of your SuperStripper Game, you need to figure out what you want to do with Your Dash.

Life is about LIVING not HAVING. You must figure out what you want to BE before you can HAVE and DO anything! This was a very important aspect of dancerwise that I needed to learn. When I first began dancing I focused so much on how much money I needed to make to have something that I became the greedy stripper with false promises who ended up never making enough money each night. Now I realize that I could have a million and it would not matter if my life was not a fulfilling one with amazing stories and experiences to share.

I am right there with Kristine. I was at a point last year where I thought I was at the end of my “dash”. Before I was aware of my mortality, I was focused merely on stuff and how much money I could get for it. While I now live in a more frugal and spartan manner, I am now happier than I have ever been, while not wanting for much.

The end of your “dash” could happen at any time. Heed the words written about this topic.
