I came across an interesting article yesterday from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution entitled Hard Times push more Women to Stripping. Although we have been seeing this type of article surface every few weeks as unemployment climbs and the recession drags on; one thing that stood out to me in this article was this quote:
“Those who do wind up working in the business soon learn that even nude dancers have to work harder these days, as patrons spend less and don’t return as often. The cyber-savvy dancers have turned to social media to hold customers’ interest. And for good reason. Even in this tough economy, a dancer can clear about $50,000 a year, and that beats working in a dentist’s office or selling homes right now.”
Finally, a realistic article that isn’t perpetuating the urban legend that strippers make THOUSANDS of dollars EVERY night! I have written several blogposts on this topic over the last three years. How much is $50k a year in stripper-terms? Keep reading…it’s not that much per night!
How much money do strippers make?
The services- hair stylists, nurses/med professionals and dancers are the occupations still making the jack. Now I am sorry I retired from hairdressing. Maybe I could be a dancer instead LOL.
One last question: Is the $50K per year before or after expenses? That is the question. $50K AFTER expenses isn’t all that bad. $50K gross is not all that good, knowing what some house fees, costumes, shoes, other incidentals could add up to.
