My first night back at Babe’s Cabaret was a mixture of reunion, reminiscing, catching up, and (of course) bitching about how slow it is. I had to chuckle, because The Grass is Greener Complex is spreading faster than H1N1 in pretty much every strip club I’ve set foot in over the past year.
“OMG! Why are you HERE?” one girl asked me. “Suzy Q worked in Dallas and made sooo much money in two nights, and we heard you were there too…so why would you come back HERE?” I had to chuckle. I know several girls who are moving OUT of Dallas for what they think are the greener pastures of Houston, Austin, and Baton Rouge. I even worked with two Dallas girls who flew to Philly to work the holiday season at Delilahs. Despite my own cross country tour schedule, I still believe that The Consistency Hot Button is the key to building a thriving SuperStripper Business.
As I was chatting with another veteran entertainer in the dressing room, we got on the topic of sales. I didn’t know she had been following me on Facebook, or that she even knew that I ran this site! But she reminded me of a conversation that we had over a year ago, “I HAD to start talking to the customers,” she said.
“That’s great!” I joked back, but then I remembered the conversation we had about how the “wanna dance” method always worked for her.
“It just got to the point that there weren’t enough customers, and they knew that they could get us to sit down and talk for free.”
Isn’t that the truth? Only in the strip club have I heard the sales staff refer to the rapport and value building process as “he’s wasting my time.” I’m guilty of that myself at times. Last month I caught myself complaining that I had to spend thirty whole minutes to convince this guy to go to the VIP room at Delilahs. He stayed for two hours.
“The problem is that sometimes the talking STILL doesn’t help my money. I’ve ended up talking and talking, and they didn’t get dances or pay me for my time I spend entertaining them. How do you turn talking into more money?”
