Tales From NASCAR Day 1

8pm: I arrive at Babe’s and check in.  Half of the tables are occupied and I sell two dances to the birthday boy before DJ Billy blasts Panama over the speakers.

9pm: Two suits walk in.  The tall one immediately locks eyes with me.  I smile and give them 10 minutes to order a drink and settle in.  Rob is from New York city and works in marketing for a pharmaceutical company.  It’s his first trip to Scottsdale, but will be here more frequently to see this new client of his.  He’s a big guy (6’8, roughly 280 lbs) so the teeny chairs on the main floor just weren’t comfortable or conducive to a good lap dance.  He opts for the $20 couches along the wall.  I could sense I had good rapport with him, so we stayed for several dances.  Did I mention last week that $20 dances add up so much quicker than $10 dances? New Yorkers tend to be good tippers too, at least Rob was.

Rob also gave me an interesting tidbit of information.  He said he was going to go to Christie’s but both the bartender at his hotel and the cab driver told him that Babe’s was better.  Just more proof that word of mouth marketing is more effective than any 3 1/2 x 5 inch print add in the backpages of the Sports section.

10pm: The floodgates open as they do every night at this hour.  I met Carl and his son in town from Colorado for NASCAR.  It was his son’s first time at a strip club.  Sonny preferred brunettes, but Carl opted for a couch dance along the wall.  Al, who owns the largest trucking company in Alaska planted himself permanently on a couch and bought several couch dances. Did I mention that $20 dances add up so much quicker than $10 dances?

11pm A party of seven from Nebraska was seated by the tiprail.  They are staying 3 blocks up the road and were also told by the cab driver to check out the new Babe’s Cabaret.  One by one I plucked them from the table and led them to the couches.  Did I mention last week that $20 dances add up so much quicker than $10 dances?

11:45pm I walk past my friend Gia who was giving a couch dance to Chris from Alberta.  We have worked well together in the past at Christie’s, especially the Crazy Bitch Debacle last June. After two couch dances, Chris decides it is too busy on the main floor.  So we upsell VIP Bottle service for him.  Another thing I like about Babe’s Cabaret is we are not limited to wine and champagne.  We can sell bottles of liquor and have it served Vegas-Style.  So Chris ordered a bottle of Grey Goose, and we had cranberry, orange, and tonic mixers.  By law though, the bottle has to be capped and we can’t serve ourselves.  It took me 10 minutes of attempting to remove the locked top onthe bottle to figure that out.  The VIP hostess has the key, and she has to be the one to pour the drinks.

Our first half hour just flew by, so Chris bought another half hour with both of us.  “OK, I need to shut up so we can dance more!”  he said.  Then the rest of his party began joining us in VIP.  Since their hour started at a different time than Chris’s hour did, Chris bought a THIRD half hour.  Again, I must mention that $400/hour VIP sales add up so much quicker than $250/hour VIP sales.

1am: Strangely though, Chris disappeared about 10 minutes into our half hour.  I circled the club for 15 minutes, and even sent someone into the bathroom to look for him.  GONE!  Odd.  He had already paid me.

1:20am: I start a half hour with Larry, who is part of Chris’s party.  Larry is actually the guy I sent into the bathroom to look for Chris.

“Gosh, since Chris ditched you…I guess you’ll have to hang out with me for half an hour….how much is it?”  he asked.

“Two hundred per half hour I responded.

“No problem” Larry said.  Apparently Chris and his 8 buddies from Canada are here for a sports weekend.  Saturday night they are going to the Hockey Game, Sunday to NASCAR, and I found out that Monday night Football is here in Arizona this week too!

2am: Babes closes right at the 2am on the nose, 20 minutes earlier than Christie’s.  I agree to drive Gia home.  She’s wasted.  We stop at Del Taco by ASU.  The ExtraValue 4 meal with two chicken soft tacos is my weakness.

Did you know that you get a kids burrito meal free with the purchase of any  ExtraValue meal after 5pm?  The clerk tried to tell me that it wasn’t after 5pm.  “Um, it’s 2:15 am, which is exactly 9 hours and 15 minutes after 5pm.”  It worked!  I let Gia have the burrito.
