I spent the week planning out some new ventures. I’m not ready to disclose the details, as I want to make sure every i is dotted and t is crossed
I placed my biannual eyelash order today. I blogged about this a few months ago, and Lia reminded me of it when I was in Birmingham for the EDMBA.
A few weeks ago, I almost had a heart attack when I had to buy a single pair of fake eyelashes in Vegas. CVS was charging $4.69! I couldn’t believe it! My standard Andrea Modlash 26 eyelashes usually have a $3.29 price tag at pharmacies. When I order them in bulk at MadameMadeline I can get the price down to $2.10 with free shipping. Yes I have to spend $100 on eyelashes (which sounds exceedingly ridiculous) but it also serves the purpose of legitimizing false eyelashes as a tax deduction. The IRS has a loosely described “house-wife” rule: any beauty product a “house wife” would purchase, cannot be a business deduction.
As a stripper, it is part of our costume. If anyone remembers Edward, the flaming manager at Boys Toys in San Francisco during the dot.com craze, his assertation was, “Girlfriend, I don’t care how long your real lashes are….they ain’t long enough for this business!” Buying in bulk reflects a business use for the product as the typical housewife wouldn’t use 60 pairs of fake eyelashes in 6 months (at least I hope not)
Have a great weekend! Time for me to shower and get ready for work!
