I cleaned out my locker at Christie’s!

I’ve had that locker since November 2002.  It was quite symbolic of my metamorphosis from full time SuperStripperto what I want to dub as Phase Two.

Full time (Phase One as I will now call it) SuperStripper is one who is in the process of working extra hours, eliminating consumer debt and saving her cash, thus building her investment capital.  This took me five years, approximately from July of 2002 when my bankruptcy was discharged until May of 2008.

Phase Two SuperStripper has multiple streams of income from her investments and businesses.  She still dances, but a bad night/week/month doesn’t to mean the bills don’t get paid.  I’m proud that I have tackled the B and I Quadrants. I don’t have to pull those loooong double shifts to make ends meet anymore because the passive income from Iron Condors and DestinationAvalon make up for it. 

To steal a line from Kenny Rogers in The Gambler, “If you’re going to pay the game, boy, you got to learn to play it right.”

Making money is a game.  People struggle financially because they don’t know how to play the game.  For most people, they  have no real assets (things that put money into their pocket) and they are often indebted to everyone else.  That is why they cling to job security.  If it were not for their job, they’d be broke in a flash.  I have read that the average American is three paychecks away from bankruptcy, just because they sought a better life and got run over by the game.  The deck is stacked against them because they think their house, car, clothes, vacation home, and other stuff are assets.  They believe that because that is what someone else (like a “financial advisor”) told them.  They have to believe it because they have not trained themselves to be financially literate.

Warren Buffet, America’s greatest investor, once said “If you’re in a poker game and after 20 minutes you don’t know who the patsy is, then you’re the patsy.”

P.S. I’m still working at Christie’s…I just gave my locker to a new girl who is working 4 shifts a week and needs it more than I do.
