VegasMoney Day 1

I will chronicle my week in Vegas similar to my Diary of a Superbowl Stripper Series. The last time I drove and worked an entire week in Vegas was Comdex 2002. I was six years younger then.

4:40am Wilson wakes me up to go outside. Can’t fall back asleep. Lay in bed going over everything I forgot to pack/do/email yesterday.

6am: get up, shower, eat, check stops on my puts

6:30am: get stopped out of LEH, COF, JPM with much less of a profit than I had yesterday. Good thing I doubled up on OIH and XLE puts.

I have to teach Spin Class, get a spray tan, and stop at Christie’s to pick up a few lucky outfits I left in my locker. I’ve never been in the strip club at 10am…not even when I worked the Peppermint Hippo 3am shift.

11:15-4:15 It took me exactly 5 hours to drive 330 miles.  Although the drive was relatively smooth, it re-affirmed the fact that I prefer to fly than drive.  I can be brain dead on an airplane.  Highway 93 is really boring.  Who would ever live in Kingman?

5-6:30pm  Took a powernap.  Vegas doesn’t come alive til 10pm.  Convention attendees tend to go to dinner, gamble a bit, then hit the clubs to spend their winnings.  Personally I would rather stay late than go in early.

9:00pm Got lost on Industrial Blvd.  I meant to turn on Highland. Glad my Volvo has GPS.  Paid my $40 house fee.  I find it interesting that Treasures fees are cheaper than Christie’s fees, and the dance prices are double.

Apparently there is a sinkhole and Industrial is going to be closed from Frank Sinatra Blvd to Stardust.  Sux for Sapphires and Spearmint Rhino.  I know this because my first customer of the night was the guy they flew in from San Diego to fix it.  Other than him, there are 5 customers in the entire place.

10pm Treasures picks up as guys filter in after dinner and gambling.  Lots of guys from New Zealand of all places.  Good thing I spent time in Auckland.  In addition to CTIA Wireless Convention, there is also a Pizza convention in town.  I want to go sample various kinds of pizza….

11pm I meet Hans the lawyer from Denmark.  His buddy bought the first dance for him, he kept going for four more.  At the $100 mark I played Feed The Meter.  Since I didn’t know if Hans was credit-worthy, I didn’t want to run the tab too high before collecting.  “Thats it?” he said…”lets go to five”  You got it Hans, and I walked him to the 3 for $100 section.  He ended up being credit-worthy and tipped when I collected in full at the end of our dances.

12am The VIP host says, “You’re Avalon?  I have a customer for you.”  He leads me across the floor.  I tip him for the lead…and it turns out to be Ian Dunross, my friend from San Francisco who gave me the heads up on this convention!

1am Get called to stage.  Wang from Korea tips me well on the main stage.  We go to VIP for a few dances.

2am Crash taps me on the shoulder.  “Hey!  I heard them call an Avalon….I was wondering if it was you!”  Crash decided to hit Vegas this week as well.  Hopefully she doesn’t crash her car through the Treasures parking lot wall…..it backs up to the I-15.

3am Another stage set.  I’m just done at this point.  I made my minimum goal and have six more days to go.

Hello! The text on this site is REALLY hard to read. You should consider a white text for blog posts if your are sticking with a dark background. I want to read more, but can barely see it. I just hate to see people skip over your writing because of this , so I wanted to offer the suggestion.

Thanks Carmen! It actually IS a white background, but you must be using an old version of Internet Explorer. Try upgrading to IE8 or using Firefox ;)
