So Mackenzie convinced me to give Treasures a try. No problem, we’re sharing a rental car and its just easier to work at the same club. So after we hopped a 45 minute flight to Vegas, secured our rental car, and checked into the hotel, I had 40 minutes to shower, change, and SuperStripper-fy myself by 4pm. Mack swears by the early shift, no house fee, free buffet and a steady local crowd.
However, like most clubs, Treasures only hires at 9pm. So I now have 5 hours to kill. So I drive back to the hotel and go to happy hour in the Mexican Cantina in the casino. I made an interesting observation as I noshed on my half price chicken quesadilla and sipped on my Diet Coke. Why is it when a woman catches a man staring at her, he immediately avoids eye contact? Ditto for his wife shooting dirty looks?
Then I remembered a line from the NBC tv show Las Vegas, “Didn’t you know that any attractive woman sitting alone at a casino bar is probably a hooker?” Considering the fact that my smoky eyemakeup was a bit dark and my bleach blonde hair a bit too teased for my casual Van Halen Tshirt and jeans…I think I probably fit that bill. (on a side note, isn’t it ironic how conservative housewives get their panties all tied up in a knot if their hubby goes to a gasp STRIP CLUB but it’s okay for him to hang out at the casino where hookers abound?)
So after another Diet Coke (and I swore I wasn’t going to drink soda this trip!) I went back to my room, called husband Vinnie, did some yoga to aleviate the tension in my neck, and surfed the internet.
One more hour to go. Timing….it truly is the only factor in getting hired in Vegas. Does the manager on duty have time to audition you? If he doesn’t feel like taking 2 minutes out of his schedule to check out my T-n-A then I’m SOL. I remember back in 1999 going to Olympic Gardens 6 times before I caught Nick on a good night. Guess who is the current manager at Treasures? Its such a small stripclub world.
