As I sit here waiting for confirmation to enter a short term trade on the S&P 500, I realize how important patience is. Not just in trading or stripping, but overall.
In trading, my bullish signal is there: bullish cluster on the market forecast, index is sitting at support of 1450. However, since we are in an intermediate term downtrend, I wait for confirmation on counter-trend trades because even the best systems can be wrong sometimes. If the S&P 500 does bounce up off support, I will ride it up to the next support level at 1490. If the S&P breaks 1450 support, it will free fall down to the next support level at 1400. I make money either direction, I REALLY don’t care if it goes up or down (well, down happens much faster, so I actually like when it goes down…I can make my money in a day instead of a week) So….I’m just sitting here….waiting to see which direction it’s going to turn..either way…I make money.
In the strip club there can be a lot of down time. Especially in Vegas. I notice the most frustrating time period in Vegas is about 10pm-2am. Ironically, it is the time period that has the highest volume of customers. It’s also when the night shift rolls in and suddenly the marketplace is supplied with 100 more entertainers. This is where patience comes in. Guys are overwhelmed when they first walk into a strip club. They need to sit down, have a drink, get comfortable in their chair, acquaint themselves with their surroundings, survey their choices…and then they will be ready to buy lapdances. Very rarely will a guy buy a dance before his drink arrives; and no matter how hot you are, he still wants to see who else is in the room. Don’t take it personally, after all haven’t you found 10 pairs of shoes you love, tried them all on (for free) but end up only buying one?
Patience…don’t force the sale or else you may lose it. Instead take the time to gain rapport, find out what he wants, determine if you can provide what he’s looking for, and then close the sale at an appropriate time. As I mentioned yesterday, sometimes clients come into strip clubs looking for services beyond what most entertainers provide. Don’t get mad, don’t feel bad about yourself, just move on.
I see myself as a market maker: matching up buyers and sellers. There will ALWAYS be someone else walking in the door to buy the services I provide. If I meet a client who is looking for escort services outside of the club rather than lapdances inside the club, then I refer him to a local escort agency that I know is reputable. Its not a lost sale, he was never going to buy my services to begin with. He just showed up at a 5 star steak house looking for a cheap burger and fries, so I gave him directions to McDonalds.
